Artist Studios

Art Sanctuary, in Louisville, KY, has private, open, and open shop studios available for rent. Our studios costs approximately $1.10/square foot/month and requires a deposit, the equivalent of one month’s rate, and requires a 6-month commitment. Artists may secure adjoining open studios. Available studios are posted internally first and become available to residing artists based on seniority. Note: For the security of all our members, upon selection, prior to contract signing, each artist must submit to a background check at their own expense ($30). All studio activity is subject to our terms of use.

• Opportunities to promote their work through open studio events and exhibitions

• Featured on website as a current studio artist

Art Sanctuary is a non-profit organization that sustains itself in part with volunteer hours. In addition to use of the facility, each studio artist will be expected to donate the equivalent of 2 hours per month over the course of their studio residence (so, for instance, if you put in a 4 hour day promoting AS at a festival you’re good for 2 months, and if you can’t pull it off this month you can make up for it later). This is intended to help build community while pitching in to help with the organization so we encourage you to join a committee, work in groups, etc. There will be a running list of volunteer opportunities that will live on our website. We will send you updates as opportunities arise via the tenants page on Facebook but it will ultimately be your responsibility to fulfill this obligation.
