July 9 · The Roundtable  7:30pm-midnight
 The Lounge
947 E. Madison St. (corner of Wenzel & E. Chestnut), Louisville, KY

We have been doing them for years, but now we've moved it to a public setting. It is an opportunity for artists to speak their minds and let us know what they would like. The roundtable can be a critique, a discussion, or just a place to get together and make art.

July 27 · Writers Showcase   8pm
 Bearno's
 1318 Bardstown Rd., Louisville, KY

We began hosting our own events in October 2004 with Storytelling at Molly Malone's Restaurant. This event has grown to include both local and national acts and has drawn a crowd of 100 or more on the last Sunday of the month.

As of August 22, 2007 — retroactive to January 2005 — the IRS has officially recognized Art Sanctuary as a 501(c)3 organization! After a lengthy, laborious application process (along with more than a few migraines and gnawed cuticles), we are pleased to announce our nonprofit status to all past, current and future supporters. 501(c)3 status opens up so many opportunities for the organization itself and the artists we support. We can now solicit donations that will be tax-deductible to our donors as well as apply for grants from foundations and corporations. We can also pursue our goals of extending community outreach and educational opportunities. We are on the lookout for suitable office/storage/gallery space. We also intend to create a curriculum for our education arm that will include art classes and artist networking opportunities.

Art Sanctuary

Our Mission is to support local visual, performing, literary, and culinary artists through special events, promotions, and education.

Featured Artist
Lisa Frye

Lisa is magic — she can make snakes swing from trees, birds swim, scarecrows come to life. She creates work based on personal experience in order to explore the phantasmagoric and serendipitous. However, she relies strongly on the earth grappling her tiptoes, for without which, she would subconsciously ascend to the next ethereal plane. She also takes pleasure in fuzzy blankets and heated Grand Marnier.
