Rosegarden Funeral Party (Dallas, Texas) - has been making their mark on the international post-punk/goth scene since the release of their inaugural EP, the Chopping Block, in 2018. Since then, the band has released another EP, At the Stake (2020), and three full length albums, Martyr (2019), In the Wake of Fire (2021), and From the Ashes (2024). The band has garnered critical acclaim from Post-Punk.com, LA Weekly, SF Sonic, Dallas Observer, and more.

Rosegarden Funeral Party has extensively toured the US, both as a headliner and a supporting act, completing over 13 tours. They made their UK/European debut in 2023 touring countries Italy, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Scotland, England, and Germany, where they headlined Beautiful Noise Festival, and supported Skeletal Family and Corpus Delicti at Wave Gottik Treffen in Leipzig.

Rosegarden Funeral Party blends traditional gothic sonic stylizing with modern pop sensibility that supports emotionally evocative and relatable lyrics about heartbreak and healing. We are so excited to be hosting an art camp for teens this summer! Art Camp Lou is art camp reimagined, where all you need is curiosity and an open mind to participate. Camp will be held for 6 weeks, from May 27 - July 3, with each week focusing on a different theme and project where students will have the freedom to explore several different types of mediums and methods of application. Students are encouraged to be playful and curious, with a focus on the process of creating art rather than the result. This camp is open to any teen artists ages 13-16 regardless of skill level - no experience needed!

Join us to discover new techniques, gain confidence in your artistic voice, and create lasting friendships that extend beyond camp. Sign up for the projects and weeks that work for you!

Weekly Themes:

1) Week 1: Polish Poster Design : May 27 - May 30 - Students will create

their own posters influenced by the bright and colorful mid-century Polish Poster designs. Students will use collage, markers, and printmaking techniques to create layers, texture, and patterns.

2) Week 2: Mini to Max : June 2 - June 6 - Students will transform their doodles into larger, more detailed pieces of artwork, expanding on their original designs. We will learn about color theory, color design, pattern design, and replication techniques, while using watercolors, collage, markers, and oil pastels.

3) Week 3 : Picasso Portraits : June 9 - June 13 - This week, it's all about making bold, surprising self-portraits! Students will dive into the world of Picasso by using cardboard, paint, collage techniques, and markers to create unique, eye-catching works of art. Get ready for some funky, out-of- the-box portraits that break all the rules and capture each student's personality in a totally new way!

4) Week 4 : Spin* Splatter* Drip* Drizzle : June 16 - June 20 - Let creativity run wild! Students will let gravity, chance, and energy take the lead creating exciting, unpredictable textures, and turning the canvas into a dynamic, spontaneous performance, where each splash tells a story. These techniques push the boundaries of art, allowing artists to embrace chaos and the beauty of the unexpected.

5) Week 5 : Card Deck Design : June 23 - June 27 - This week, class will take a fun and creative spin on an everyday item – a deck of cards! Students can choose to give a traditional deck a fresh twist or design their own totally unique deck from scratch. The deck can be playing cards, affirmation card,

 inspiration cards, or a fresh take on the Tarot. We'll be using paint, collage,

and markers to bring our card creations to life.

6) Week 6 : Magic Abounds : June 30 - July 3 - Creating sculptures from

found objects is like going on a treasure hunt - you never know what amazing materials you’ll discover. Almost anything can be turned into something completely new and exciting. Our inspiration is the artist Louise Nevelson, who turned everyday objects into sculptural masterpieces - you can view one of her larger pieces downtown at the KY Performing Arts Center!

Price: $225/student/week, all supplies are included and students take home whatever art work they create
