The Scott Slusher Memorial Photo Studio is 36′ x 20′ with 13′ ceiling height throughout. The area is equipped with backdrop stands, backdrop paper (when available), grounded power outlets, a rolling work table, a stereo and a clothing rack. There is access to a window for natural light plus exposed overhead beams for easy clamp mounting.
Photographers can license access to the studio for $20 per hour to be paid upfront in order to reserve the space. Payment is for use of the space and begins at arrival and ends at departure. If cancellation of a shoot is to occur, Art Sanctuary must have written notice 72 hours prior to the scheduled time in order to receive a refund of charges. No other refunds shall be given. If use of the space runs over agreed upon timeframe, additional time must be paid for at the end of the shoot. Studio should be returned to the state it was found in, including, but not limited to, cleaning and removal of equipment and personal items.

Tenant photographers can license access to the studio for $100 per month. Photographers will gain 24-hour studio access to the facility, free access to wireless internet, use of available tools and equipment, and be featured on our website as a current studio artist. Photographers will share a calendar for scheduling and are encouraged to communicate readily with the rest of the photography group and surrounding tenants. Photo shoots will be shifted to a space on the second floor during large events. Photographers will have access to temporary equipment storage in two shared lockable storage cabinets. The studio should always be returned to its default state at the end of a shoot unless otherwise agreed to by the group.
Use of the Scott Slusher Memorial Photo Studio requires a 6 month lease plus a $100 deposit. To apply, please fill out our online application below. Note: For the security of all our members, upon selection, prior to contract signing, each artist must submit to a background check at their own expense ($25).
Art Sanctuary is a non-profit organization that sustains itself in part with volunteer hours. In addition to use of the facility, each studio artist will be expected to donate the equivalent of 2 hours per month over the course of their studio residence (so, for instance, if you put in a 4 hour day promoting AS at a festival you’re good for 2 months, and if you can’t pull it off this month you can make up for it later). This is intended to help build community while pitching in to help with the organization so we encourage you to join a committee, work in groups, etc. There will be a running list of volunteer opportunities that will live on our website. We will send you updates as opportunities arise via the tenants page on Facebook but it will ultimately be your responsibility to fulfill this obligation.
